The British Thematic Association (BTA) was founded in 1984 with the objective.
"To promote, encourage and assist the development of Thematic Philately"

Open to thematic collectors of all ages and at all levels the BTA offers help and advice on all aspects of thematic philately through:-
- National & Regional Meetings.
- Workshops on thematic collecting.
- Access to a comprehensive Library and Photocopying Service.
- Access to the American Topical Associations Checklists & Handbooks, by arrangement.
- Contact with collectors with similar interests.
- A Displays Organiser who can help provide Local Societies with Thematic Speakers.
- Themescene our award winning quarterly journal.
- Provision of specialist publications at special rates e.g. Handbook of Thematic Philately.
- Organising displays, competitive exhibits and staffing a stand at Thematica.
- A formal link between F.I.P. Thematic Bureau and UK Specialist Societies.
