MIDPEX 2009 have kindly invited us to display the Friends of Thematica competitions in the brand new Xcel Centre in Coventry on 11th July 2009. The Xcel Centre is described as a "State of the Art" building, just off the A45 on the South West side of Coventry.

There will be an excellent range of dealers and many specialist societies will be represented. In addition, this year’s event will also feature, for the first time, a number of thematic competitions. The BTA will be holding their AGM at the show in the afternoon which will be followed by a display by Gerald Lovell entitled "Covering the Expenses". 

The Friends of Thematica competitions are:-

The John Fosbery Thematic Trophy Competition. Open to anyone who has not won a thematic philately medal at a National or International Exhibition. No Rules, No entry fee. 16 sheets in transparent protectors, any theme; return postage requested.

The British Thematic Association (BTA) Trophy Competition. Open to all, 32 sheets The Rules of the National Thematic Philately Class apply, medals awarded. Entry Fee £15.

BARCLAYS CUP YOUNG COLLECTORS COMPETITION - The judges will be looking for originality. The pages should include mainly stamp material but up to a quarter of items may be photos, postcards, magazine cuttings etc. The judges welcome more vibrant methods of presentation but such exhibits may not be suitable for other stamp competitions.

The competition will be divided into three age groups (ages as at 1 June 2009)
Group A: those aged up to and including 8; each entry to consist of 4 pages.
Group B: those aged from 9 and up to and including 12; each entry to consist of
8 pages
Group C: those aged from 13 and up to and including 18; each entry to consist of 16 pages.

INTER-FEDERATION THEMATIC COMPETITION (Healey & Wise Salver)
THE INVITATION:
To submit a one frame 16-sheet entry. The exhibit should be based on a theme, which is difficult to expand to 5 or 8 frames or, be prepared by a newcomer to thematic philately, who may expand the exhibit later.
